Xtralites! Anotha one! Idk what’s in the Hollywood water lately BUT Prolific songwriter and producer Terius Gesteelde-Diamant, known as The-Dream, has been accused of rape, sexual battery, and sex trafficking by his former mentee, Chanaaz Mangroe. In a lawsuit filed in California federal court, Mangroe alleges that Gesteelde-Diamant, who has worked with Beyoncé, Rihanna, and other major artists, manipulated her with false promises to advance her career, only to subject her to a “violent and abusive relationship” involving physical and psychological abuse.
Mangroe claims that Gesteelde-Diamant promised to sponsor her visa, write hit songs for her, and offer her a spot on Beyoncé’s tour, but instead controlled and isolated her, demanding she “check in” multiple times daily. The lawsuit details disturbing incidents, including being locked in a dark room and subjected to violent sexual acts.
Gesteelde-Diamant has denied the allegations, calling them “untrue and defamatory.” He expressed sadness over the accusations, emphasizing his commitment to supporting fellow artists.
The lawsuit also implicates Gesteelde-Diamant’s label, Contra Paris, and Epic Records, alleging they facilitated his actions and benefited from his exploitation of Mangroe. The allegations extend to sex trafficking, with Mangroe reportedly forced into sexual acts with multiple men.
Mangroe’s lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, has a history of handling high-profile sexual assault cases. Mangroe expressed the difficulty of speaking out but emphasized the necessity due to the impact on her life and career aspirations.
Gesteelde-Diamant’s history includes a dismissed case in 2013, where his ex-girlfriend accused him of strangling her while pregnant. Sony Music, owner of Epic Records, has declined to comment.
