WENDY WILLIAMS DIAGNOSED WITH FRONTOTEMPORAL DEMENTIA AND APHASIA

Same diagnosis as Bruce Willis

Wendy Williams’ team announced on a Thursday, Feb 22nd, morning press release that she has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. “As Wendy’s fans are aware, in the past she has been open with the public about her medical struggles with Graves’ Disease and Lymphedema as well as other significant challenges related to her health,” the statement noted. The diagnosis came after a series of tests in 2023 when Williams began experiencing memory loss, difficulty finding words, and erratic behavior, leading doctors to identify these neurodegenerative diseases as the cause.

Frontotemporal dementia affects behavior, personality, language, and movement due to the loss of nerve cells in specific brain regions. “Receiving a diagnosis has enabled Wendy to receive the medical care she requires,” the statement added. Despite the difficulty in sharing the news, it was done to promote understanding and compassion for Wendy and to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

The statement emphasized that Wendy is still capable of many tasks and retains her sense of humor. Currently, she is receiving care in an undisclosed treatment center, with her family ensuring her protection. Williams is grateful for the supportive messages and wishes from her well-wishers. This disclosure precedes the release of Lifetime’s documentary “Where Is Wendy Williams?” Our thoughts and prayers are with Aunty Wendy 🙏
