Tom Hardy’s last dance as Venom
Sony Pictures has officially announced that “Venom: The Last Dance,” the third installment in the Venom series, will be the final film centered on Tom Hardy’s portrayal of the alien vigilante. Sony Motion Picture Group Chairman Tom Rothman revealed the news during an interview with Deadline. He discussed the future of Sony’s Marvel offshoot trilogy, highlighting upcoming projects such as “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” and the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film, which he describes as “significant events” for fans. Rothman emphasized the importance of Venom 3 in this lineup, stating, “The third and last Venom is going to be huge.”
The team behind “Venom: The Last Dance” aims to deliver a spectacular conclusion to the series. Kelly Marcel, making her feature film directorial debut, leads the project. Marcel is no stranger to the Venom franchise, having written the scripts for both “Venom” (2018) and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021). She also penned the screenplay for “The Last Dance” and co-created the story with Hardy. Marcel and Hardy serve as producers alongside Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Hutch Parker.
While specific plot details for “Venom: The Last Dance” are still under wraps, the film features Tom Hardy reprising his role as Eddie Brock/Venom. The cast also includes Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Clark Backo in undisclosed roles.
“Venom: The Last Dance” represents a significant milestone in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Although Tom Hardy made a cameo in the MCU’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” all three Venom films are part of Sony’s distinct Spider-Man Universe, which also includes “Morbius” and “Madame Web” . Following “Venom: The Last Dance,” the Aaron Taylor-Johnson-starring “Kraven the Hunter” is set to hit theaters this December after several delays.
Fans can look forward to Eddie Brock’s final adventure when “Venom: The Last Dance” releases theaters on October 25, 2024.
