Actress Shannen Doherty, prior to her passing, reportedly took steps to plan her funeral, which included specifying individuals she did not want in attendance.
Sources involved in the planning process disclosed that former co-stars Alyssa Milano and Jennie Garth, with whom Doherty had previous disagreements, would not be invited to the service.
Doherty discussed her funeral arrangements and other details on her podcast “Let’s Be Clear,” where she often shared openly about her health journey and aspirations for the future.
“There are many people who might come that I don’t want there. Their reasons for showing up aren’t the best,” she explained candidly.
“Some may attend because it’s expected, not because they genuinely care,” she continued. “I want my funeral to be a celebration of love, not a place where people secretly think, ‘Thank goodness she’s gone.'”
The news of Doherty’s passing was confirmed by her publicist, Leslie Sloane, who released a statement on behalf of her family on July 14.
“It is with heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. She lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, July 13, surrounded by loved ones, including her dog, Bowie. The family requests privacy during this time of mourning.”
Doherty gained fame for her roles in “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Charmed.” After her initial breast cancer diagnosis in 2015, she underwent extensive treatment and achieved remission in 2017. However, the cancer returned in 2020, spreading to her spine and subsequently to her brain, leading to further aggressive treatments.
