Opening Night of The Roommate Starring Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone!
Broadway was alive and electric as the stars aligned for the highly-anticipated opening of The Roommate at the Booth Theatre. With two icons at the helm—Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone—this two-person play has already captured the hearts and minds of theater lovers. I had the absolute pleasure of being on the red carpet, soaking in all the excitement, and chatting with some Broadway legends who came out to support this dynamic production.
It was the epitome of a Broadway night, and the stars certainly did not disappoint! Marissa Jaret Winokur, Laura Bell Bundy, and Kerry Butler all graced the red carpet, not only to witness the magic of Mia and Patti in action but also to show some love for their former Hairspray director, the legendary Jack O’Brien. Our conversations naturally turned to the importance of representation for women in theater and how empowering it is to see such accomplished women at the forefront of a major production like The Roommate.
Kathy Najimy, ever the energy on any carpet, was all smiles as she celebrated her longtime friends, Patti and Mia. I couldn’t resist trying to get the scoop on Sister Act 3, but Kathy kept those lips sealed tight—no spoilers this time!
The creative minds behind the show also hit the carpet, and it was such a pleasure to chat with writer and creator Jen Silverman and director Jack O’Brien. Their passion for this project was palpable, and they shared how excited they are to bring this unique story to Broadway. We also spotted other icons of the Great White Way, adding to the night’s glamorous atmosphere.
If you haven’t yet grabbed your tickets, The Roommate is currently playing at the Booth Theatre, and trust me, you don’t want to miss this show! Two icons, one stage—it’s a Broadway dream come true.
