Olivia Rodrigo isn’t holding back on her support for reproductive rights. At her concert on March 12, some fans walked away with more than just memories—they snagged emergency contraceptives and condoms.
Representatives from the Missouri Abortion Fund, alongside “Right By You,” a Missouri-based pregnancy education text line, handed out boxes of emergency contraception, commonly known as the “morning-after pill” (think brands like “Plan B”), at Rodrigo’s gig at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. Condoms were also part of the package.
The Missouri Abortion Fund, who tabled at the concert and handed out the contraceptives, defended their right to do so and the rights of those in attendance to have access to them.
Many attendees posted about the “giveaways” and praised Olivia and her team for their unapologetic stance on the issue.
Rodrigo kicked off her “Guts” world tour in February and introduced the “Fund 4 Good.” Olivia shared a video recently where she explained why ‘Fund 4 Good’ is so important to her. It is a global initiative committed to building an equitable and just future for women and girls through direct support of community-based non-profits that champion girls’ education, support reproductive rights and prevent gender-based violence. A portion of ticket sales from the Guts world tour will go to the ‘Fund 4 Good,’ Rodrigo is also teaming up with the National Network of Abortion Funds to help ensure that anyone facing barriers that prevent them access to healthcare, especially as it pertains to reproductive care have the support they need.
The pop star encouraged fans to visit the National Network of Abortion Funds website or stop by their table at any Guts world tour stop.
Abortion rights groups are rallying for a constitutional amendment in Missouri to safeguard reproductive rights in a state with some of the nation’s strictest abortion laws.
It’s unclear if these giveaways will happen at Rodrigo’s other tour stops.
