NICOLE KIDMAN’S HEARTBREAKING EXIT FROM VENICE AFTER LEARNING OF HER MOTHER’S PASSING

Devastating Loss

Nicole Kidman is mourning the loss of her beloved mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, after receiving devastating news during the Venice Film Festival. The Big Little Lies star was in Italy to promote her latest film Babygirl, but the trip took a tragic turn shortly after her arrival.

While attending the festival, where she was set to accept the Best Actress Award for her role in Babygirl, Kidman learned of her mother’s passing and promptly left to be with her family. Director Halina Reijn accepted the award on Nicole’s behalf, delivering a heartfelt and emotional message to the stunned audience. In a statement, Kidman expressed her shock and deep grief:

“Shortly after arriving in Venice, I learned that my beautiful, brave mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, has passed. I’m in shock, and I need to be with my family. This award is for her. She shaped me, guided me, and made me who I am. I’m beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina.” The packed theater fell silent as Reijn continued reading Nicole’s words, with the director adding, “We love you all, Nicole.” Kidman’s absence was deeply felt.

Kidman, 57, had always been vocal about her close bond with her mother, often crediting Janelle for shaping her life, career, and sense of style. In a past interview with PEOPLE, Nicole opened up about her mother’s influence, sharing that Janelle had always been involved in her life choices, especially in how she presented herself publicly.

In 2020, she further reflected on their relationship in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, where she revealed that Janelle’s determination had given her the strength to pursue her acting career. Nicole said, “Mum didn’t necessarily get the career she wanted, but she was determined that her daughters would have opportunities that were equal. That’s given me my life, and she gave me my life.”

A representative for Nicole Kidman confirmed Janelle’s passing, noting that the family is “heartbroken” and asking for privacy during this incredibly difficult time. While the specifics of her mother’s passing have not been publicly shared, Nicole’s statement echoed the deep pain and shock she feels as she grapples with this tragic loss.

In recent months, Nicole had spoken about the challenges of balancing her demanding Hollywood career with her family responsibilities, particularly as her mother’s health began to decline.Kidman, who is married to country music star Keith Urban, is expected to remain with her family for an extended period while they navigate this period of mourning.

Although Nicole Kidman was unable to accept the Best Actress Award in person, her emotional statement and dedication to her mother resonated with both fans and festival attendees. Her absence underscored the raw reality of balancing personal grief with public life, a challenge many celebrities face.
