The “Fan” is Suing Over Alleged Humiliation and Emotional Distress
Nicki Minaj, one of the most influential figures in the rap industry, is now at the center of a $5 million lawsuit filed by a longtime fan who claims the rapper slandered and humiliated him over several years. The plaintiff, Tameer Peak, has accused the “Super Bass” artist of causing significant reputational damage, emotional distress, and financial loss through public statements and social media interactions.
Tameer Peak, who describes himself as one of Minaj’s most devoted fans for over 15 years, filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court, naming Nicki Minaj as the defendant. According to court documents, Peak claims that his dedication to the rap queen turned sour when Minaj allegedly began publicly ridiculing him in 2017, a period he refers to as her “Nicki hate train” phase.
Peak asserts that he played a crucial role in promoting Minaj’s work, particularly her 2023 album, *Pink Friday 2*. However, despite his loyalty, he alleges that Minaj began accusing him of being a “paid mole” sent to sabotage her career. This marked the beginning of what Peak describes as a series of slanderous incidents that have left him emotionally and financially drained.
The lawsuit outlines several instances where Minaj allegedly used her social media platforms to attack Peak. In one shocking claim, Peak says that Minaj invited him to her hotel during an Instagram Live session, only to embarrass him in front of 100,000 viewers by accusing him of being mentally unstable. He also alleges that Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, physically assaulted him during a Super Bowl weekend event in 2020, further compounding his distress.
Peak claims that Minaj continued her attacks on social media, particularly during her interactions with fans on Twitter (now X) and the audio platform Stationhead. In one exchange, Minaj allegedly referred to Peak as “one sandwich short of a picnic,” implying he was intellectually deficient and possibly on welfare. Another time, she reportedly labeled him a “stalker” who impersonated members of her team.
Nicki Minaj’s attorney, Judd Burstein, has responded to the lawsuit, dismissing Peak’s claims as baseless and legally frivolous. In a statement provided to TMZ, Burstein said, “Mr. Peak has been harassing Nicki on social media for years on end to no avail. He has now graduated to seeking to shake her down financially with manifestly false allegations and legally frivolous claims. He will regret having gone down this disreputable road when he is forced to pay her legal fees as required by California law.”
Minaj’s legal team is preparing to fight the lawsuit, arguing that the allegations are nothing more than a desperate attempt to extract money from the rapper.
The lawsuit raises significant questions about the boundaries between celebrities and their fans, particularly in the age of social media where interactions can easily become public spectacles.
