Jenn Tran’s journey on *The Bachelorette* is still unfolding, but ABC has already revealed the next Bachelor: Grant Ellis.
The 30-year-old, who was eliminated during Monday night’s episode, will take the lead on season 29 of *The Bachelor*, as announced by ABC following the episode.
“I want a family. I want to be happy. I want a wife. I want to be in love. I want that,” Grant expressed in his emotional exit interview on *The Bachelorette*. “I want to give everything to somebody, and I want them to give everything to me in return.”
Fortunately for Grant, he’ll get another shot at love on national television. Here’s what you need to know about the new Bachelor.
Grant’s Background: From Pro Basketball Player to Day Trader
Originally from New Jersey, Grant Ellis is a former student-athlete at Iona College. He pursued a professional basketball career overseas, playing in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic before an injury cut his career short. Now, Grant is based in Houston, where he works as a day trader.
When he’s not working, Grant enjoys staying active, cheering for the LA Lakers, bowling, and belting out tunes at karaoke. He also has an ambitious goal of visiting every country in the world—a journey that started with trips to Australia and New Zealand during *The Bachelorette*.
Grant’s Journey on The Bachelorette: Sincerity and Intentionality Shine
Grant’s sincerity made him a standout on Jenn Tran’s season of *The Bachelorette*. His journey on the show began after his mother signed him up, inspired by watching *The Golden Bachelor*.
Before his reality TV debut, Grant had been in a long-term, seven-year relationship with his college girlfriend, which ended amicably. On *The Bachelorette*, he avoided much of the season’s drama, focusing instead on building a genuine connection with Jenn. His efforts paid off when he secured a one-on-one date during week five.
“I always feel at ease when I’m with Grant,” Jenn said on the show. “That spark is definitely there. He’s always intentional with me and so open with his feelings that it makes me comfortable.”
During their date, Grant opened up about his challenging childhood, marked by his father’s 30-year struggle with addiction. Just before Grant joined *The Bachelorette*, his father lost his job and entered rehab. They have since reconnected, and his father is now nearly two months sober. Grant shared that his experiences have fueled his determination to be the man his father couldn’t be.
In week six, Grant confessed to Jenn that he was falling in love with her and could see a future together. However, he was eliminated during the rose ceremony, leaving him devastated and feeling “empty.”
“I did not think that was going to happen tonight,” he told the cameras.
Grant’s Season of The Bachelor Set for 2025 Premiere
While the exact release date has not been announced, *The Bachelor* is confirmed to return to ABC in 2025, with new seasons traditionally premiering in January.
“As the Bachelor, Ellis is eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure, and genuine connections,” his official ABC bio reads. “He hopes to find a partner who shares his values of loyalty, humor, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.”
Stay tuned for what promises to be a season full of love, heartbreak, and unforgettable moments with Grant Ellis at the center of it all.
