Blames Jamaican sun for tanning her skin
(Swipe gallery to see fan reactions) It all started when singer, Chilli, and her boo, Actor Matthew Lawrence, posted a video of them getting down to a Jamaican dancehall tune. When a fan complimented Chilli’s boo by saying that his dance moves got better because he now had some chocolate in his life, Chilli quickly interjected and clarified that she has a caramel, not chocolate, skin tone. Let’s just say this response got her fans quite riled up. The responses were mixed with most seemingly taking offense to Chilli’s denial of what they perceive is her actual skin color in favor of a lighter tone and accusing her of harboring self hate and colorism issues- issues that trigger a lot of hurt within the black community.
