Fauziya Abashe Files Lawsuit Against AK for Alleged Assault
Fauziya Abashe has filed a lawsuit against DJ Akademiks, accusing him of rape, sexual assault, and defamation. The suit, submitted in New Jersey’s Superior Court and accessed by Rolling Stone, details a harrowing sequence of events beginning on July 16, 2022, when Abashe alleges she was invited to Akademiks’ (real name Livingston Allen) home. Though they had not seen each other in almost a year, Abashe did not anticipate any harm.
Upon arrival, Abashe encountered two men, referred to as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2, who were unexpected guests. According to her, these men drugged her drink and plied her with alcohol before assaulting and raping her on Allen’s pool deck. The lawsuit claims that the drugs caused her to lose consciousness and significantly impaired her memory.
Abashe alleges that she later woke up around 4 a.m. on July 17, 2022, in a bedroom, where Allen was pulling her hair, prying open her legs, and brutally raping her. She describes being assaulted both anally and vaginally, begging Allen to stop, and crying but eventually losing the ability to move.
The following day, Abashe sought answers from Allen about the previous night. He allegedly showed her a trash can containing two condom wrappers, implying that after the pool-deck attack, the two men had continued to rape her in another room. Additionally, Allen is said to have shown her surveillance footage of the pool-deck assault, which depicted her lying motionless.
Text messages included in the lawsuit reveal that later on July 17, Allen advised Abashe to “get tested” for STIs, a suggestion she found suspicious, particularly since they had not been intimate for over a year. After consulting her lawyer, Abashe went to the police, who instructed her to undergo a rape kit examination at a hospital. This examination allegedly detected traces of Allen’s sperm. She also provided photographs of bruises on her arms, back, buttocks, and legs, and participated in a recorded call with Allen during which he allegedly described their sexual encounter graphically.
Authorities obtained a warrant for surveillance footage and other evidence. Abashe claims Allen tried to dispose of evidence, such as bed sheets, by discarding them in a dumpster near his office.
Initially opting not to press charges, Abashe decided to file the lawsuit after the allegations surfaced publicly at the end of 2023, when both she and Allen addressed the incident on social media. Allen did not respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment but addressed the lawsuit during a Rumble livestream, calling it a “shakedown” and a “money tree situation.” He maintained that the police had investigated and cleared him of any wrongdoing, citing video footage and text messages reviewed by prosecutors as evidence supporting his innocence.
In a December 30, 2023 video, Allen claimed he was asleep at home while the two men assaulted Abashe on the pool deck, suggesting she had consensual sex with them. The lawsuit alleges that Allen defamed Abashe by falsely claiming she voluntarily participated in an orgy. The suit argues that Allen’s statements were misleading and false, as he had text messages from Abashe indicating she was unaware of the night’s events until he informed her. Abashe expressed confidence in the legal process, hoping that justice would be served and that her case would prevent other women from experiencing similar trauma.
