Beyoncé Launches SirDavis Whiskey, and It Has Already Won Awards

Raise a glass—Beyoncé has just introduced SirDavis, her latest venture in collaboration with Moët Hennessy and master distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden. Named after her great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, this whiskey is a deeply personal project for Beyoncé, blending her love for whiskey with a tribute to her family’s history. With a retail price of $89, SirDavis is available for pre-order ahead of its official launch in September.

Beyoncé, known for her meticulous attention to detail, played a significant role in crafting SirDavis. She sought out Moët Hennessy to help create a whiskey with a unique flavor profile that reflects her whiskey ideals. The result is a bold and sophisticated spirit that honors tradition while offering something new to the category. The bottle’s design, featuring ribbed glass and a bronzed horse, nods to her Texas roots and showcases her visionary touch.

In developing SirDavis, Beyoncé also took inspiration from her great-grandfather’s life as a moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition. According to family lore, Davis Hogue would hide bottles of whiskey in hollowed-out cedar trees for friends and family to find. These stories resonated with Beyoncé, reinforcing her belief that this whiskey was meant to be a part of her legacy. SirDavis not only honors her heritage but also brings a fresh, innovative perspective to the whiskey world, much like Beyoncé herself does in her various creative endeavors.

What’s even more impressive is that SirDavis has already made waves in the spirits community. The whiskey was submitted anonymously to several prestigious competitions before its official launch and came out on top, winning Best in Class for American Whiskey at the 2023 SIP Awards. This recognition, earned blindly, speaks volumes about the quality and craftsmanship that went into creating SirDavis, setting a high bar for its official debut.
